Liverpool will enter the summer transfer market in search of a new midfielder.
The position has been of interest ot Arne Slot ever since he arrived on Merseyside as Liverpool tried to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi last summer but the Euro 2024 winner opted to remain in La Liga for another season.
In hindsight, that has worked out for the Reds as Slot has improved Ryan Gravenberch dramatically, converting the Dutch star to a number six, a role in which the 22-year-old has impressed.
Heading into the summer transfer window, it is uncertain if Liverpool will look to add a starting midfielder to their squad or go down the route of bringing in a younger talent to develop at Anfield.
Should it be the former, the Premier League leaders should be all over a player Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign back in 2021.

Liverpool should be ready to pounce on potential Eduardo Camavinga transfer
Eduardo Camavinga is one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, hence why the French star has been at Real Madrid for the last four years.
However, the 22-year-old has been a rotation player at the Bernabeu this season and it is expected that the midfielder would like a bigger role at the La Liga champions.
As a result, there may be an opportunity to sign Camavinga this summer and according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester City have added the Real Madrid star to their transfer list for the summer and are actively monitoring him.

Should it become apparent that Camavinga wants to leave Spain, this is a situation Liverpool should be all over.
The French star can play in multiple roles and could address several problems in Slot’s squad, while also saving the Premier League leaders some cash.
Klopp was a fan of the 22-year-old back in 2021 and his team may remember that should the Merseyside club make a move this summer
Jurgen Klopp wanted Eduardo Camavinga at Liverpool
Liverpool have held a long-term interest in Camavinga after missing out on the midfielder back in 2021 as the French star opted to move to Real Madrid.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp tried to sign the midfielder during his time at Rennes as the German star saw the potential the 22-year-old had back then.
Camavinga has a contract at Real Madrid until 2029, therefore a deal for the France international could be quite expensive should the midfielder decide he wants a change of scenery.
In the end, it could be worth it as Camavinga ticks a lot of boxes. The Real Madrid star is young, can play in multiple roles and already has experience of winning the biggest trophies in Europe. Not many young stars have this, hence why a club like Man City are showing interest.
Liverpool can not allow Camavinga to move to the Etihad unchallenged as this could be a great opportunity for the Reds.
The French talent would be a star under Slot and a move to Anfield would likely excite the Real Madrid talent, given the Merseyside club’s current form.
