Harvey Barnes gets the public backing of £35m Newcastle United star after his West Ham display

Bruno Guimaraes was Newcastle United’s hero against West Ham United – but he had a little bit of help from Harvey Barnes.

The Brazil international scored the only goal of the game at the London Stadium, as Newcastle beat West Ham 1-0.

It is a pivotal victory for Newcastle, as they can now take momentum into Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

It was a captain’s performance from Bruno Guimaraes, who was outstanding on Monday night. Even without his goal, he was one of the Magpies’ best players.

But he was able to provide the decisive moment in the second half, as he got on the end of Harvey Barnes’ cross.
