Arsenal line-ups vs PSV Eindhoven as Sterling and Jorginho start, Kiwior chance

After a 7-1 win in the first leg away from home, Mikel Arteta has very little to worry about regarding potential Champions League elimination. However, it presents an odd scenario of wanting to respect the tie and give minutes to players, but not losing momentum by failing to win yet another match after the Old Trafford draw.

There is potential for the fringe players in the team to get some exposure and minutes. Mikel Arteta was asked a lot about Raheem Sterling in his pre-match press conference, and he could be one of those who play.

Will the youngster Nathan Butler-Oyedeji get a chance? football.london give their thoughts on who they would start on Tuesday evening.

Tom Canton

This is a really tough one to call, and finding who is the right pick with the balance needed to respect the tie, not lose it and give minutes to some lesser-used names is tricky. Some senior figures like David Raya, William Saliba and Declan Rice persist in the spine for me.

Then the likes of Jakub Kiwior, Kieran Tierney, Sterling and Jorginho should also get some time on the field. Ben White and Gabriel Martinelli both could also do with the minutes as they continue their recovery from recent injury lay-offs.

Elsewhere, with Martinelli back, it is time for the Mikel Merino experiment to trail off. Leandro Trossard gets the nod for me and this could be where the position develops throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Canton’s Arsenal XI vs PSV Eindhoven: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Tierney; Jorginho, Rice, Nwaneri, Martinelli, Trossard, Sterling.

Sam Truelove

Mikel Arteta has the luxury of making changes for the Champions League clash against PSV and I expect him to make a handful. Jakub Kiwior and Ben White come into the backline, for me, replacing Gabriel and Jurrien Timber from the weekend's draw at Manchester United.

Oleksandr Zinchenko could be deployed as a No.8 in the Gunners midfield, with Jorginho playing at the base of the three. Ethan Nwaneri could also drop a little deeper, meaning Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Thomas Partey are all rested.

Raheem Sterling, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli would be my choice up top. Leandro Trossard can have a nice rest ahead of the weekend match against Chelsea, while it may be the last chance Sterling gets to impress in an Arsenal shirt.

Truelove's Arsenal XI vs PSV Eindhoven: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Zinchenko, Jorginho, Nwaneri; Martinelli, Merino, Sterling.
