Leeds United's final Championship points tally predicted as promotion truth emerges

A fresh prediction has emerged for Leeds United's chances of securing promotion to the Premier League. United were handed a 1-0 defeat by Portsmouth in the Championship on Sunday afternoon. The result leaves Leeds at top of the league table, but are now level on points with second-placed Sheffield United and are ahead only on goal difference.

Daniel Farke's side will now prepare to face Millwall at Elland Road on Wednesday night in the first of their final 10 Championship fixtures. United are also just two points ahead of Burnley in third, who are just outside the automatic promotion places. After dropping five points across their last two matches, a fresh prediction has emerged for Leeds' chances of securing promotion to the Premier League. Opta Analyst has crunched the numbers and believes that United will still finish top of the Championship and return to the top flight.

The prediction believes that Leeds will finish with 97 points (96.84), which would mean the club amassing a further 21 points from their final 10 league matches. Sheffield United are second in the final predicted table with 94 points (93.83), while Burnley remain third with 93 points (92.58).

It has also been predicted that Leeds have an 89.72% chance of getting promoted from their current position. United also apparently have a 63.56% chance of winning the Championship title according to the latest prediction.

Between now and the end of the season, Leeds will have five home matches at Elland Road against Millwall, Swansea City, Preston North End, Stoke City and Bristol City. Farke and Co. also have away trips to Queens Park Rangers, Luton Town, Middlesbrough, Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle to try and secure automatic promotion to the Premier League and avoid dropping into the play-off spots.
