Atlanta-based rapper, singer Lakeyah to perform at Hawks home game

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Rapper and singer Lakeyah will perform at an Atlanta Hawks home game this month, the team announced Tuesday.

The Hawks will host the Atlanta-based artist’s halftime show during their game against the Philadelphia 76ers at State Farm Arena on Sunday, March 23.

“With a growing catalog of hits and a dedicated fan base, Lakeyah’s powerful presence and authenticity continues to take the music world by storm,” the team said in a press release.

Originally from Milwaukee, Lakeyah has “quickly established herself as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary hip-hop and R&B” with her “infectious energy and relatable storytelling,” which have captivated audiences across the country, the team said.

“I’m super hyped to be performing for the Atlanta Hawks,” Lakeyah said in a statement. “It’s always been a goal of mine to perform for a halftime show but it hits different when it’s in a city that took me in as one of their own.”

This season, the Hawks have also hosted performances by a variety of award-winning artists, including Gucci Mane, Keith Sweat, Travis Porter, Mariah the Scientist, DreTL, Jagged Edge, Goodie Mob and Rotimi.
