Should the Eagles re-sign Miles Sanders?

As teams continue their offseason purge, the Carolina Panthers have released former Eagles running back Miles Sanders after two seasons.

He never quite developed into the three-down back that Philadelphia had hoped for, but got his chance to be the guy for the Panthers on a four year, $25.4 million contract (including $13 million guaranteed, and a $5.9 million signing bonus) in 2023.

In his first season with the Panthers, he played in 16 games and had 129 carries for just 432 yards and one touchdown, plus 154 receiving yards. Injuries sidelined him a bit in 2024, and in 11 games, he had 55 carries for 205 yards and two TDs, along with 148 receiving yards and one TD reception.

Again, the running back had a couple decent seasons, but didn’t quite live up to their RB1 expectations. Despite the Eagles not paying Sanders big money two years ago, they could be interested in bringing him back in for a different role behind Saquon Barkley.

Barkley and Sanders are also super familiar with each other having played together at Penn State in 2016 and 2017. Sanders had to wait in the wings and didn’t really get a bigger role with the Nittany Lions until Barkley left for the NFL.

This could be an interesting reunion in more than one way.
