Jesper Lindstrom has come into his own at Everton since David Moyes’ arrival but a decision is yet to be made on his future.

The Dane was cast aside by his former manager Sean Dyche with the Englishman often preferring to start Jack Harrison on the right wing rather than the Napoli loanee.

However, since the Scotsman made his return to Goodison Park, Lindstrom has been given the chance to start a run of games and finally got his first goal contribution of the season in their 1-1 draw against Wolves last time out.

Lindstrom is only on loan to the Toffees so that means a decision needs to be made about his future before his deal comes to an end this season.

Moyes needs to bring Lindstrom to Everton permanently

Lindstrom may not have been all that effective in the final third this term but with the way things seem to be headed, Lindstrom could become a key cog in Moyes’ future plans.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The attacker’s progress has been noticed by many with Liverpool legend Daniel Agger even saying that the Dane is now “thriving” in Merseyside.

This is one of the many reasons why Moyes should look at activating Everton’s option to buy the attacker as soon as possible.

“Jesper may have been a bit down in the dumps, and now he has found his footing and it seems that he is thriving,” he said in quotes relayed by Tipsbladet (10 March).

“You can see that on the pitch, he has delivered some really, really good performances. He is someone we discuss and talk about in our small group (the national team’s coaching staff, etc).

“He is a type who also fits well in a national team. He gives a good mood and he is a good guy, and he has qualities on the field, and that is ultimately what we need. He is someone we follow really, really closely.

“I think we’ve already seen in the games he’s played for Everton that it’s only gone one way. It’s gotten better and better. The Premier League is a difficult place, you just have to find your footing, and I think he’s found that now.”

Everton need to gear up for the 2025/26 Premier League season

Things have been going much better for Everton since Moyes’ return, and fans will hope that form will carry on into the 2025/26 season.

The Toffees are now well away from the relegation zone which is an achievement in itself, especially with how their 2024/25 campaign started off.

Team Position Points

Everton 15th 33

West Ham 16th 33

Wolves 17th 23

Ipswich 18th 17

The Premier League table as it stands.

Only time will tell whether the Toffees have the quality among their ranks to carry their recent form into next season but with Carlos Alcaraz, Lindstrom and Harrison all having options to buy at the end of their loan deals, decisions need to be made soon.

Otherwise, Moyes could find himself stuck in limbo and not knowing where he needs to improve in the summer transfer window which would be far from ideal.

At the end of the day, if Everton want to see themselves making their way back up the Premier League’s rankings then they’ll need to ensure they have a clear plan laid out regarding how they’re going to do it.

Otherwise, they could end up back at square one and fighting to avoid relegation from the top flight once again.
