The San Francisco 49ers have lost a lot of players this offseason. After missing the playoffs last season, many have expected them to have an aggressive approach to free agency.
So far, that approach has not been very aggressive and players have been leaving the 49ers left and right.
Among the players who are departing San Francisco are Aaron Banks, Maliek Collins, Dre Greenlaw, Javon Hargrave, Talanoa Hufanga, Kyle Juszczyk, Jaylon Moore, Elijah Mitchell, Deebo Samuel, and Charvarius Ward.
Those losses are not going to be easy to bounce back from, but San Francisco wasn't done with those departures.
On Tuesday, the 49ers made a major announcement about another roster move.
In a post on X, the team announced that it had released veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd. He can now be added to the long list of players who will not be back in 2025.
Floyd put together a strong season for San Francisco last year. He played in all 17 regular season games, totaling 42 tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a defended pass.
At 32 years old, the 49ers simply don't seem to view him as a fit anymore.
Fans are starting to worry. They can't be blamed for that worry with the mass exodus of players from San Francisco.
John Lynch has a lot of work to do in order for the 49ers to be a serious NFC contender in 2025. He will need to get working on building the roster back very soon.
