Tottenham are preparing for a busy summer window as they look to rejuvenate Ange Postecoglou’s squad further after an underwhelming Premier League campaign which currently sees them languish in the bottom half of the table.
The North London outfit are well-adrift of a European place in the Premier League and have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions, with injuries across the campaign having disrupted their form. Ange Postecoglou and his boys are still in the Europa League, which remains their only feasible path to a trophy this season and Champions League qualification for next term.
Spurs have been linked with numerous players over the last few months. They did strengthen the squad in the January transfer window with three new faces but also missed out on a couple of targets. One of those was LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes.

Angel Gomes’ career has been on a steady upward trajectory since his move to LOSC Lille from Manchester United in the summer of 2020. He was immediately loaned out to Boavista for the 2020/21 campaign, and the creative midfielder performed very well in the Primeira Liga. Gomes returned to Lille at the start of 2021/22 and has since not looked back.
The Edmonton-born talent has been a mainstay in the Lille side for four seasons now. The attacking midfielder showcased his immense talent, racking up 10 goals and 19 assists in 134 appearances. It is no wonder that Tottenham have been vying for Gomes’ signature.
However, according to an exclusive report from Football Insider, West Ham United have stolen a march on Spurs in the race for Gomes. The Irons have ‘advanced their interest’ as they look to fortify Graham Potter’s squad during the off-season.

The England international is out of contract at Lille at the end of the season and is looking for a new challenge. The Hotspur Way chiefs will be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements after reportedly planning to cash in on Yves Bissouma during the summer transfer window. If Bissouma is sold, Gomes could be a solid potential replacement in Tottenham’s midfield ranks.
