New York Giants: Bolster Secondary, Add Top Safety

The New York Giants have made it a mission to improve their secondary over the past two days after recording the second-fewest interceptions in the league. On Monday, New York signed former New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo to a three-year, $54 million contract. Adebo will be tasked with being the Giants’ number-one cornerback.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Giants signed former Miami Dolphins free safety Jevón Holland to a three-year, $45.3 million deal, worth up to $46.8 million, and $30.3 million guaranteed. Holland’s $15.1 million APY makes him the eighth-highest-paid safety in the NFL per Over The Cap. After losing Xavier McKinney to the Green Bay Packers last offseason, the team finally upgraded the safety position with a high-quality replacement.

The Miami Dolphins drafted Jevón Holland in the 2nd round, 36th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Holland had a solid tenure with Miami, recording 301 tackles, nine TFLs, five sacks, five interceptions, one pick-six, 25 pass deflections, and five forced fumbles in 60 regular season games and 57 starts, along with ten tackles, one interception, and two forced fumbles in one postseason game. The star safety recorded 62 tackles, two TFLs, one sack, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble in 15 starts in 2024.

He performs well against the run, is excellent in coverage, is a solid pass rusher, and can line up in the slot, the box, and the slot.
