Ukraine is ready to accept a US proposal for an immediate one month-long ceasefire as long as Russia does the same.
The ball is now in Moscow’s court, but America has strengthened Ukraine’s hand after having weakened it since the infamous meltdown in the Oval Office.
Washington will lift its embargo on shipping arms and supplying intelligence to Ukrainian forces on the ground. And Kyiv will now also sign the much vaunted minerals deal with the Trump administration.
President Zelenskyy has thanked Donald Trump for the “constructiveness” of today’s talks and said he accepts the US proposal for a complete 30 day ceasefire.
The Ukrainian president also called for “real measures to establish trust”, including the exchange of prisoners. And, he declared that Ukraine was ready for peace, but Russia must now also show its readiness to end the war.
