39 Goal Striker 'Prefers' £59M Liverpool Switch As Reds Are Handed Major Transfer Boost

Liverpool are among a small group of elite clubs that Viktor Gyokeres would like to join this summer, according to reports in Portugal.

Tabloid A BOLA claims they have heard that the Swedish international “prefers” a move to the Reds, Arsenal or Manchester City if he gets the chance to make the switch to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Gyokeres’s first-choice destination is believed to be England, although he hasn’t ruled out a transfer to other countries.

If he does make the move to another league, A BOLA say that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are the four teams he would be interested in joining.

Are Liverpool in the market for a new No.9?

Reports suggest that Diogo Jota could be allowed to leave Anfield this summer, along with the likes of Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliot, Caoimhin Kelleher and Wataru Endo.

With Darwin Nunez also said to be a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia, there is definitely scope for a new forward to be brought in.

It is up for debate whether Gyokeres would be at the top of the list of targets. He has had another outstanding season, having scored 39 goals in 40 appearances so far, but he will turn 27 in June. The Reds don’t usually sign players who are that age.

How much would Gyokeres cost?

Although the striker does have a €100m (£84m) release clause in his contract, it is believed that he has a gentleman’s agreement to leave Sporting for just €70m (£59m).

Considering his excellent scoring record over the past two campaigns, Gyokeres is likely to have plenty of suitors, especially at that price. It remains to be seen, though, whether Liverpool will get involved.
