Tottenham plotting move for Premier League star in summer; player to demand an exit

**Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for an important summer transfer window, with strengthening their defense being a key focus.**

Among their primary targets is Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, a player the club has been tracking since last summer.

With his contract set to expire in 2026, the England international is reportedly eager for a new challenge and is seeking a long-term deal lasting until 2029 at his next club.

According to [CaughtOffside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/03/11/exclusive-tottenham-summer-move-liverpool-target/), Spurs remain interested in signing the Crystal Palace defender and are planning to re-enter discussions to secure Guehi’s signature once the transfer window opens.

As per the report, the player is keen on leaving the club at the end of this season and is prepared to speak to Palace to demand a move away.

It has been previously claimed by Tottenham expert [Alasdair Gold that “Spurs love him”](https://theboyhotspur.com/spurs-love-him-alasdair-gold-makes-exciting-tottenham-transfer-update-regarding-23-year-old/) but will only make a move for him if another big name defender is to leave.

He told Football London:

“Spurs love him but he’ll be big money this summer, chased by every top club going and Tottenham aren’t really prioritising a centre-back as an immediate big money signing this summer unless someone major left, which is not expected at this point.”

Since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021 for a reported £18 million, Guehi has developed into one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders. His consistent performances have also earned him a place in the England national team, where he played a crucial role during Euro 2024.

At the tournament, Guehi partnered John Stones at the heart of England’s defense, helping secure clean sheets in group-stage matches against Serbia and Slovenia. In the Round of 16 against Slovakia, he provided the assist for Jude Bellingham’s dramatic last-minute equalizer.

Although he missed the quarter-final due to suspension, he returned for the semi-final against the Netherlands and started in the final against Spain in England’s 2-1 defeat.

This season, the 24-year-old has remained a key figure for Palace under Oliver Glasner, featuring in 34 matches across all competitions while contributing three goals and two assists.

Tottenham already have a solid defensive core with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, and Kevin Danso—who joined on loan from Lens with an option to buy. However, if Romero departs or the club opts against signing Danso permanently, Guehi could become a top target.

Bringing in the English defender would be a significant investment, but his quality and experience could further strengthen Spurs’ backline for the long term.
