Report: Goal machine leaves Man Utd out of summer transfer dream as Ruben Amorim connection overlooked

Manchester United are likely to chase a new striker this summer but Ruben Amorim has seemingly suffered an early blow.

Manchester United fans can’t take another season of such poor attacking output.

United have managed just 34 goals in 28 games this season with Ruben Amorim’s side struggling for goals.

Only two United players – Bruno Fernandes and Amad – have scored more than three Premier League goals this season.

Christian Eriksen has defended Rasmus Hojlund but the Danish striker’s goal drought has now hit 20 games.

United need more goals from everybody and that means potentially dipping back into the market for another striker.

Viktor Gyokeres transfer stance emerges

United are already being linked with potential striking additions this summer.

United are keen on Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace whilst reports in Italy suggest that Dusan Vlahovic is on United’s wish list.

Another name in the mix is Viktor Gyokeres given that he became a world-renowned goal machine under Amorim at Sporting.

The Swede would make sense as a goalscoring addition, especially given his familiarity with Amorim.

Reports suggest that United are against signing Gyokeres due to his age, remarkably believing that he is already too old at 27.

We would argue against that, but it sounds like Gyokeres isn’t particularly interested in signing for United anyway.

A Bola report that has three Premier League clubs in mind if he is to move this summer – Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Gyokeres allegedly prefers those three clubs over the Premier League sides, believing that he needs to join one of the top clubs in England.

United may be that in name, but on the pitch right now – and Gyokeres seemingly isn’t eyeing up a move to United ahead of the summer window.

Other Sporting stars much more likely to sign

Gyokeres is seemingly leaving United out of his plans for the summer but some of his Sporting teammates could still arrive at Old Trafford.

Sporting wonderkid Geovany Quenda is expected to join United this summer with the teenager a top target for Amorim.

Quenda has been likened to Bukayo Saka and would likely be viewed as a wing back with the option of playing further forward.

United are also eyeing Francisco Trincao, who played under Amorim at Braga as well as Sporting.

A playmaker who would bring creativity in the final third, Trincao failed to live up to his potential at Barcelona but has excelled in Portugal.

Those targets seem much more likely than Gyokeres to join United, with the striker seemingly setting his sights at the top of the game.
