Jack Harrison’s second consecutive loan move from Leeds United to Everton hasn’t gone as well as his first.
Harrison returned to Goodison Park last summer in the wake of Leeds’ failed 2023/24 promotion bid, enacting the same loan clause in his contract which allowed him to move to Everton on loan in 2023.
Previous Everton manager Sean Dyche was keen for Harrison to move back to Merseyside after three goals and assists in 29 appearances last season, but he’s only just managed to break his duck this term.
Dyche is now long gone as Everton’s manager with David Moyes returning to the club in January to oversee a huge revival in the Toffees’ form, and that’s left Harrison’s future under a serious cloud.

Harrison’s lack of productivity at Everton this season – only notching his first goal last weekend against Wolves – may have proven terminal for Leeds’ hopes that Moyes would want to sign him permanently.

Before Everton’s 1-1 draw with Wolves on Saturday, where Harrison was their goalscorer, Moyes made clear that in order to attain “longevity” at Everton, he need much more from the 28-year-old.

Jack Harrison’s form has tailed off for Everton this season
In quotes reported by LeedsLive (10 March) Moyes said: “Let’s be fair, you won’t have longevity if you’re not going to get me assists and you’re not going to get me goals
“You have to find ways of coming up with those numbers. They [Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom] both need to improve.
After Harrison’s goal at Molineux, Moyes added: “I remember him scoring plenty for Leeds and couldn’t see why he couldn’t do it for us. He is gaining confidence and the goal will help him.”

Jack Harrison faces uncertain future at Leeds United
Harrison is very much a figure who represents a period lost to time at Elland Road, having not played a minute for Leeds since 49ers Enterprises took charge of the Whites following their relegation in 2023.
Everton are also under new ownership following Dan Friedkin’s takeover, but given Moyes’ clear skepticism over the winger’s long-term prospects on Merseyside, he could be set for a return to LS11.
Having loaned Harrison in two straight summer windows they were strapped for cash in, a newly-monied Everton will likely be setting the bar much higher this time around than a player with such a poor output.
As a result, Harrison would be set to re-join a potentially promoted Leeds in the Premier League despite Daniel Farke also downplaying the prospect of that happening given the strength they possess out wide.
If Leeds once again fail to return to the promise land this spring though, Harrison’s loan clause may kick back into gear, giving any team willing to take a punt on an underperforming winger with very little risk.
