The free agency rumors surrounding veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers are heating up, but one insider is pumping the brakes a bit.
Rodgers has hit free agency after his release by the New York Jets, with several teams initially identified as potential landing spots before the group of likely suitors ultimately whittled down to two.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported on March 10 that Rodgers appears to be down to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, two teams in dire need of a quarterback.
"Two weeks ago, Rodgers reached out to the Giants. It was an indication that he didn't have many options," Florio wrote. "With Justin Fields taking a two-year deal with the Jets, Rodgers now has an open spot in Pittsburgh."
The decision may not be imminent, however. ESPN's Adam Schefter said in an appearance on "SportsCenter" on Tuesday that the veteran quarterback is in no hurry to make a decision. Schefter said Rodgers will make the call on his own timeline, which could mean anywhere up to a week before he signs with a new team.
"He does things on his schedule, when he's ready," Schefter said. "And my understanding is this could be a little while. Now I don't know if a little while is a day or a week, but my understanding is this could be a little while before he makes a decision about what he wants."
