Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane quickly stepped in to back up his teammate before officials and players separated both sides. Durant nearly had the final say, knocking down a three in the closing seconds to cut the Grizzlies' lead to just two points. However, he missed a last-second attempt that would have won the game for the Suns.
Following the win, Morant was asked about the heated moment and how it fueled the team's energy down the stretch.
"I feel like it's what we all needed," the two-time All-Star said. "In the timeout, I told the team we pretty much have moments where we are not in front of the fans... that was pretty much the message: bring our own energy and have the fans back us up."

The Grizzlies appear to be regaining their rhythm after struggling in the weeks following the All-Star break. Their latest victory improves them to 41-24, keeping them in a competitive battle with the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets for a top playoff seed in the Western Conference.
