David Moyes shows true Everton colours with Liverpool dig as they crash out of the Champions…

Everton manager David Moyes has taken his opportunity to land a subtle dig on Liverpool as they crashed out of the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Toffees will be sitting with their feet up preparing for their final Premier League game of the month on the weekend.

Moyes’ men return to Goodison Park on Saturday to face his former side West Ham United ahead of the international break.

The Friedkins will be eyeing a return to European football for Everton after a considerable time away from testing themselves against some of Europe’s best.

For now, the city had to watch on as Arne Slot’s side took on Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League tie.

Fans will remember Virgil van Dijk’s Everton jibe after the Merseyside Derby last month.

And the Blues will have enjoyed watching Luis Enrique’s men knock out the Reds on penalties at Anfield.

Everton’s David Moyes makes Liverpool joke over PSG clash

Just a number of weeks ago, Arne Slot made a joke against Everton and their new stadium following the test event against Wigan Athletic U18s.

But now it is roles reversed with the 61-year-old Everton boss issuing his own dig at their Merseyside rivals.

Speaking to BBC Liverpool from the Liverpool Empire Theatre, Moyes joked that he was not aware there was a game going on.

“That’s one way to avoid having to watch Liverpool tonight by being here to see Blood Brothers,” said the reporter to Moyes.

“I didn’t know there was a game on tonight, is there?” he jokingly responded.

Moyes was in attendance as Bill Kenwright was honoured with a bust as tribute to his legacy in theatre.

Some brighter news coming in the memory of the late Everton chairman after Kenwright’s estate has lost an estimated £5m in value since TFG’s takeover.

Everton face Anfield trip in a few weeks

James Tarkowski secured Everton a point against Liverpool last month in the final-ever Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

It was certainly a fiery affair with red cards being brandished after the full-time whistle.

Everton will expect a much improved Liverpool display after enjoying the best of the opportunities at Goodison.

Slot did praise Everton for the way they prevented Liverpool from playing their best football.

And there may be some in the red side of the city who will be going into the game with these cheeky comments from Moyes in mind.
