Liverpool have been handed a significant injury concern a few days ahead of their Carabao Cup final clash with Newcastle United.

Arne Slot has the opportunity to lift his first trophy as Liverpool coach this weekend when he leads out the Reds at Wembley during the Carabao Cup final against Eddie Howe’s side.

However, the Dutchman will likely play the game without first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after the defender’s injury during Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League match against PSG on Tuesday.

The Englishman was forced off in the 72nd minute of the tie with an apparent ankle injury. He was replaced by Jarell Quansah and appeared to be in serious pain as he left the pitch.

The defender also headed down the tunnel immediately after being substituted, suggesting that he has likely suffered a serious injury.

Alexander-Arnold’s injury comes at a very wrong time for Liverpool, given that the club’s other right-back options, Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez, are currently on the sidelines with injuries.

Trent Alexander-Arnold looks to be in significant pain after, what looked like an ankle injury, a major blow for Liverpool.
