Chiefs awarded two compensatory picks for 2025 NFL Draft

On Tuesday afternoon, the NFL announced that the Kansas City Chiefs have been awarded two compensatory picks in the 2025 NFL Draft — both of them in the seventh round.

It had been estimated that Kansas City would have only one comp pick in the seventh round — but once the league went through its calculations, two were awarded. Both were given as a result of free agents lost (and gained) in 2024.

According to the NFL’s official press release, Kansas City gained these picks by losing Nick Allegretti, Willie Gay and Tommy Townsend — and then signing Hollywood Brown.

As it now stands, the Chiefs will have eight picks in the draft, which will be held April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Here they are:

Round 1, Pick 31

Round 2, Pick 63

Round 3, Pick 66 (via Tennessee)

Round 3, Pick 95

Round 4, Pick 133

Round 7, Pick 226 (via Carolina)

Round 7, Pick 251 (comp pick)

Round 7, Pick 257 (comp pick)

Kansas City’s original seventh-round pick went to the Carolina Panthers in a swap — and has since been traded to the Dallas Cowboys. The Chiefs originally had the New York Jets’ seventh-round pick (225) from 2023’s Mecole Hardman trade — but sent it back to the Jets in return for defensive end Cam Thomas.

Unless they trade it to another club, the Chiefs will be selecting 2025’s “Mr. Irrelevant” with the final pick.
