Dubai: Mecca’s Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia undergoes a full-scale cleaning operation in just 35 minutes, ensuring pilgrims can perform their rituals without disruption.

According to the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, a dedicated workforce of 3,500 male and female workers operates around the clock to maintain cleanliness at Islam’s holiest site.

They are supported by 12 specialized washing machines and 679 advanced cleaning devices.

To manage waste efficiently, more than 3,000 containers are strategically placed inside and outside the Grand Mosque.

On a regular day, around 70 tonnes of waste are collected and removed, with this figure rising to 100 tonnes during peak seasons. All cleaning processes adhere to strict environmental safety standards.

The authority emphasized its commitment to sustainability by using environmentally friendly cleaning materials and maintaining 24/7 operations without affecting the movement of worshippers.

The ultimate goal is to provide a pristine and spiritually uplifting environment, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the guests of God as they perform their rituals with ease and tranquility.
