Eagles Make Final White House Decision After Super Bowl Lix

The Super Bowl tour of the Philadelphia Eagles was confirmed to have added another stop on Tuesday.

After demolishing the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on Feb. 9 in Super Bowl LIX, there were questions regarding whether or not the Eagles would be making a trip to the nation's capital to visit the White House. There had been rumors that the team had declined the invitation already, but on Tuesday it was revealed by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, that the team was in fact invited and will be attending.

"I know there was a lot of fake news about an invitation that wasn't sent or was sent, we want to correct the record: we sent an invitation, they enthusiastically accepted, and you will see them here on April 28," wrote Leavitt in a statement via ESPN.

ESPN's Tim McManus also confirmed that the team had accepted the invitation, which likely indicates it will not be a repeat of 2018.

After the Eagles beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, President Donald Trump eventually canceled the Eagles' trip to the White House after it was revealed that an overwhelming number of players decided to skip attending.

The reason for players skipping out on the visit was due to the fact that a large portion of them were hoping to bring attention to social justice issues.

In terms of what sort of foods they will be served while attending next month is a mystery. In 2019, he gave both the Clemson Tigers and North Dakota State Bison a fast food spread.

With other seasons winding down, it is currently unknown which sports will send representatives or not.
