Bills’ Leonard Floyd Signs Free-Agent Contract With NFC Power

Leonard Floyd spent only a single year with the Buffalo Bills but showed how dependable he could be as a pure edge rusher during his one-year stay.

The now-nine-year NFL veteran recorded 10.5 sacks during his time with Buffalo in the 2023 season and helped Buffalo reach the divisional round of the playoffs despite losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Floyd later signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers and recorded 8.5 sacks for the team. Now well into his career with over 66.5 sacks over that stretch, Floyd became a free agent relatively quickly at the start of the 2025 Offseason.

With the 49ers release of Floyd to kick off the offseason, there was hope that the Bills would be able to reunite with the edge rushing dynamo. That didn't happen, though.

Floyd agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year, $10 million contract less than 24 hours after being released by the 49ers. There is a personal connection as to why Floyd made the deal in the first place.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris was Floyd's defensive coordinator for two seasons with the Rams when they won a championship together in 2021. Floyd had one of the Rams' seven sacks of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in Super Bowl LVI.

Floyd is considered nothing more than a pass rushing specialist at 32 years old now. That doesn't mean he would not have come in handy for Buffalo had they found a way to get a deal done.

But even following the release of Von Miller, it looks like the Bills will be looking elsewhere to solve their edge rusher needs.
