Chelsea have a number of big decisions to make in this summer's transfer window. The Blues are expected to endure another busy trading period with a new striker and goalkeeper appearing the major priorities for Enzo Maresca and key figures behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.
Their first new signing of the upcoming window has seemingly already been made with it expected Jadon Sancho will see his loan from Manchester United made permanent for £25million. However, fresh details on that proposed deal have come to light and it is perhaps not a foregone conclusion.
Chelsea being in the market for a winger is, therefore, entirely possible even with Tyrique George now in the first-team picture. The uncertain futures of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk however show that acquiring further depth out wide is actually quite important.
With that in mind, another talent for the future is being eyed by Chelsea - as they also prepare for the imminent arrival of Estevao Willian. With all that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours and news.
Chelsea interested in Rodriguez
Real Betis wonderkid Jesus Rodriguez is thought to be of transfer interest to Chelsea - according to The Daily Mail -with Liverpool also keeping tabs on the young Spaniard's situation. It has also been suggested he has a £42.2million (€50m) release clause in his contract.
football.london says: For any 19-year-old to be regularly playing in one of Europe's top-five leagues, he must be full of talent. Although he has just three senior goal contributions to his name, Rodriguez has started Betis' last eight La Liga games.
However, with Estevao and Kendry Paez both occupying attacking position and set to join the club, it will be far more worthwhile going after established players even if they do cost much more. Someone like Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens - while twice the price - would perhaps be an astute purchase.
If the Blues can negotiate a cheaper deal which sees them avoid paying the £42million release clause, then it is definitely worth at least considering, but time will likely be better spent on other players and also different positions.
Sancho transfer latest amid 'twist'
Given what has become public knowledge, Sancho is considered a Chelsea player by the majority, but that may not be the case now. According to The Daily Mail, it is possible for Sancho to return to United at the end of the season, but it has been claimed by insiders that the Blues would face a significant punishment if that does happen.
football.london says: When it was learnt that £25million was their buy option, it seemed like an absolute steal for Chelsea. And the opening set of appearances for Sancho further showcased that idea, but the strong displays have dried up since then.
If was not an obligatory purchase, there is a real case to say that Chelsea would not activate that clause. However, considering it is a rather small sum in this era of transfers, paying the fee instead of facing a potential penalty is the better route.
The 24-year-old has struggled for consistency, but he's clearly talented and signing another winger for up to triple the price could be a big risk, as well.
