Leicester City news round-up: Star left out of national squad, Emile Heskey slams the board and …

Leicester City look dead certain to suffer relegation to the Championship in 2024/25 after a horrid campaign.

It was another defeat for Ruud van Nistelrooy on Sunday as Leicester lost 1-0 against Chelsea, despite producing a much-improved performance at Stamford Bridge.

Alarmingly, it’s now 12 defeats in 13 league matches for the Dutchman, who has proven to be one of the worst managers in the Premier League.

This weekend, Leicester clash with Manchester United for the fourth time in 2024/25, and Van Nistelrooy will be eager to pull off an upset against his former club.

Here is the latest news coming out of the King Power Stadium.

Emile Heskey slams Leicester City board

The Leicester City owners and director of football Jon Rudkin have come undefire for their awful investment into the football club, following a disastrous summer and an even worse January window.

Only one player was signed midway through the campaign, and ultimately, a lack of ambition is going to cost them in their bid to avoid relegation.

Former Foxes striker Emile Heskey has slammed Leicester’s recruitment in a recent interview, explaining why they’re destined for the drop.

Jamie Vardy can break incredible Ryan Giggs record

Leicester are breaking records for all the wrong reasons this term, although striker Jamie Vardy can still create history of his own.

In the final 10 games of the season, the Englishman has the chance to become the oldest player to score and assist in a single Premier League game.

Ryan Giggs currently holds that Premier League record, setting it against Fulham in December 2011, and Vardy will be licking his lips at the prospect of breaking it against Manchester United this weekend.

Victor Kristiansen left out of Denmark squad

Hardly any of Leicester’s current players can hold their heads high this term, and their below par performances have impacted their international prospects.

Left-back Victor Kristiansen is someone who has disappointed throughout, and unfortunately, prolonged poor performances have handed him some crushing news.

Kristansen has been left out of the Denmark squad for their two-legged Nations League quarter-final ties against Portugal this month.

Danny Drinkwater’s nickname for Claudio Ranieri

Leicester City title-winner Danny Drinkwater played the best football of his career under Claudio Ranieri.

He never recaptured his best form after signing for Chelsea in 2017 and paid the ultimate price, retiring at the age of 33 in October 2023.

Since hanging up his boots, he’s had time to reflect on his career and in a recent interview, Drinkwater has revealed his nickname for Ranieri while showering the Italian tactician with praise.
