Manchester United are in store for a massive summer transfer window in which Ruben Amorim simply has to be backed.
This however will be easier said than done for Manchester United in such financial peril.
Aside from all the financial admissions that Sir Jim Ratcliffe made while speaking to Gary Neville, one thing that was clear from the interview is that Ruben Amorim has the full backing of the hierarchy.
Ratcliffe explained Amorim was doing a good job at United, admitting that the squad quite simply is not good enough to be competing at the top end of the league.
Due to this, a big summer awaits United with several transfers already looking on the table this summer.
Sitting 14th in the league, United clearly need an overhaul with sales needed to fund business. Now, an exit which seemed nailed on is now looking less certain.

Jadon Sancho could still return to Manchester United
While there are funds for some business to be done, United need sales to overhaul the team into the vision of Amorim.

Already, a fee for Marcus Rashford looks likely with Aston Villa having an option to buy, while Antony’s price tag is rising by the week with his sensational form in Spain.
Another sale that looked all but official was Jadon Sancho to Chelsea, but now this is looking less certain.
The Daily Mail has now reported that Sancho’s move to Chelsea is not completely nailed on, despite Chelsea having an obligation to buy the 24-year-old.
It is claimed that Chelsea could still opt not to go through with a deal, instead having to pay what is described as a ‘significant penalty’ if they pull out of the agreement.
Another possible stumbling block for Sancho’s move to Chelsea is the player’s failure to agree to a contract with the Blues, which is unusual for players on loans with obligations to buy.
Ruben Amorim could be handed a forgotten problem
Last August, Erik ten Hag bid farewell to Sancho, thinking he had rid the club of the winger.
Sancho was a problem player for Ten Hag, and the pair’s fallout in 2023 is well documented, but when he left on deadline day last summer, he should have been gone for good.
Despite how it looked, it is a shocking revelation to learn that there are ways a deal can be escaped despite Chelsea achieving the 15th place or higher finish needed to trigger the purchase.
Now, it looks like there is a chance Amorim could be left with a problem he never would have envisioned having, as getting rid of Sancho after his disaster at Chelsea will be very tricky.
Let’s hope Sancho chooses to stay at Chelsea instead of a United return. Unless of course, Amorim thinks he could use him.
This would be a huge blow for United as the £25m sale would have been a big help in the transfer window.
