West Ham keeping tabs on 31 G/A striker shining at Turkish club

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri from Turkish club Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Youssef En-Nesyri is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Fenerbahce centre-forward. However, the Turkish giants do not want to part ways with the Moroccan international.

Youssef En-Nesyri and his career so far

Youssef En-Nesyri has been one of the most dependable strikers in Europe in the last half a decade. A native of Fes, the African attacker spent most of his formative years in Morocco — passing through the academies at MAS Fes and Académie Mohammed VI — but graduated from the youth division at Malaga CF.

The 27-year-old striker’s stock skyrocketed during his spell with Sevilla, while he played his part as Morocco sent shockwaves by reaching the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finals. Meanwhile, En-Nesyri has been exceptional since joining Fenerbahce from Sevilla last summer, having been productive in the final third.

The Moroccan international has contributed to 31 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net 26 times and providing five assists. Meanwhile, En-Nesyri’s exploits for Fenerbahce have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile outfits across Europe.

Premier League adventure on the horizon?

Premier League clubs, in particular, are keen on signing Youssef En-Nesyri, with West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window. The Fenerbahce attacker has been on West Ham’s radar for a long time, but a move never saw the light of day.

The East London club also mulled over signing En-Nesyri last summer, and the continued interest is understandable. While Evan Ferguson arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion in the winter transfer window, he will likely return to the Amex Stadium after the 2024/25 season ends. In addition, Niclas Fullkrug has failed to make his mark since arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

So, En-Nesyri is a viable target for West Ham, considering he could play at the London Stadium in the peak years of his career. However, with Fenerbahce not interested in parting ways with the 27-year-old Moroccan international, a summer move might be a tall order.
