'Full confidence'... Omar Berrada says there are two key figures at Man Utd who will lead team back to the top

Manchester United have had a whirlwind 48 hours with Omar Berrada the latest key club figure to speak out.

Monday night saw Sir Jim Ratcliffe join Gary Neville on The Overlap, discussing everything to do with United, bad and good.

Manchester United fans were left divided by the interview, in which the club’s minority owner revealed the true extent of the financial problems as he bid to explain job cuts.

After this interview, Tuesday saw United announce the new stadium plans, which the club hopes will be match-ready for the 2030/31 season, which is just five and a half years away.

Ratciffe’s open transparency has been refreshing at United, a huge difference from what the Glazers displayed for years.

Now, CEO Omar Berrada has joined in as he discussed several United topics including on-field success.

Omar Berrada fully backs Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox

The club CEO was at the project unveiling and spoke afterwards by answering questions not only on the stadium but also on the team right now and two of his colleagues.

Berrada spoke with United club media, with Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox among his hottest topics.

“I’m an optimist by nature and, as hard as the current situation is on the pitch, I do think that in Ruben and in Jason, we have the right people to lead the men’s side, in terms of our football planning for the next years.

“Ruben has a very clear identity of how he wants to see the team playing. He’s working extremely hard with the coaching staff and the wider staff around Carrington to get us to a position where the team can perform better.

“We need to make sure that we get our recruitment right, and I have full confidence in Jason and the team to do that. We need to improve our capabilities in certain areas, for example, in data analytics.

“But we have seen progress over the last few weeks. Perhaps it hasn’t translated into wins, which is what we all want to see, but we do have the confidence that we have the right people in place and that we’re going on a journey that’s going to take us back to the top.”

The confidence in Amorim in particular is encouraging to see, as it shows the club’s decision-makers believe that he will take the club back to greatness.

Manchester United must walk the walk with Ruben Amorim this summer

Berrada is not the only United figure to completely endorse Amorim over the past couple of days, which says a lot about how he is viewed within the club.

Ratcliffe also tipped Amorim to bring success to United, with this season being hard due to reasons outside of the head coach’s control.

Amorim has been using Erik ten Hag’s poorly assembled squad which has struggled immensely through injuries this season, which means that United’s squad has been bare bones for months now.

So in the summer, if United are convinced Amorim is the man for the job, he needs to be backed. United must sell unsuitable players and sign those perfect for the new system.

Time for Berrada and Ratcliffe to showcase their full confidence in Amorim and also Wilcox to rebuild the team.
