Arsenal have several members of their squad at risk of missing a potential Champions League quarter-final going into their clash against PSV Eindhoven.
The Gunners will take on the Eredivisie club in the second leg of their last-16 tie at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal boast a 7-1 lead from the first leg and are the overwhelming favourites to book a place in the quarter-final.
Mikel Arteta's side go into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League. Arteta and Co. will be hoping to comfortably secure a spot in the quarter-final of the Champions League when they host PSV on Wednesday night.
However, some members of the Arsenal squad are in danger of not featuring in the next round of the Champions League. Jurrien Timber, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Martinelli are all one booking away from being handed a one-match ban in the competition.
Each of the trio have picked up two yellow cards across the first nine fixtures of the competition so far. A total of three bookings up to the end of the quarter-final stage would see a player handed a one-match suspension to be served in the next match.
It also means that Timber, Sterling and Martinelli would have to get through the next three matches in order to avoid being handed a one-game suspension in the Champions League. Beating PSV would see Arsenal face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the quarter-final.
Martinelli made his return from a hamstring injury with a cameo appearance from the bench against Man United at the weekend. The Brazilian had previously been on the sidelines for more than a month through injury, and could be in line to feature against PSV on Wednesday night.
Arsenal go into the game against PSV with several players still unavailable though injury. Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu all remain sidelined, with Saka the only player expected to make a return before the end of the season.
