Liaoning Cheng Da USA Inc. is recalling "Wangzhihe" Hot Pot Sauce as it may contain undeclared peanut, soy, sesame, and wheat, all known allergens, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recalled Hot Pot Sauce comes in a 160g or 5.64oz plastic container and is available in regular and spicy flavors.
The affected lot numbers, printed on the back, are 2023/12/20, 2024/1/31, 2024/4/15, and 2024/10/18. The UPC numbers, found on the front, are 6907592001375 and 6907592001382.
The recalled products were sold in California at retail stores, including 99 Ranch Market, Hawaii Supermarket, and Great Wall Supermarket.
The manufacturer initiated the recall after discovering that the product contained peanut, soy, sesame, and wheat allergens, but the packaging did not list those ingredients.
The impacted Hot Pot Sauce can cause severe or life-threatening allergic reactions in people allergic to peanuts, soy, sesame, or wheat. However, no illnesses have been reported to date.
The company asks customers who bought the Sauce to return it to the store for a full refund.
In recent recalls, ZB Importing LLC in February recalled Ulker Brand snack products due to undeclared wheat, egg, and/or milk, while Kedake Inc. recalled its Las Ollas Botana Mix Snacks due to undeclared Sesame, Soy, Wheat, and certain food coloring agents.
Texas Pecan Co. in October last year recalled various nuts, snack mixes, seeds, and snack sticks which came in 1 Lb and 8 oz sizes, citing the potential to contain undeclared peanut, tree nuts, soy, milk, sesame, and wheat allergens.
