Contact initiated to sign Southampton player – Possibility of forcing exit

RB Leipzig are eyeing a move for Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana in the summer window.

That’s according to [Africa Foot](https://africafoot.com/kamaldeen-sulemana-cible-par-le-rb-leipzig/), who state the German club have contacted the Saints to ask about the winger’s situation.

The Ghana international’s future could be uncertain if Southampton were to be relegated from the Premier League. They are currently at the bottom, 14 points behind 17th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

[Africa Foot](https://africafoot.com/kamaldeen-sulemana-a-leipzig-un-choix-ideal-pour-le-joueur-et-le-club-selon-claude-le-roy/) had a chat with former Ghana manager Claude Le Roy to ask his views on the possibility of the 23-year-old moving to the Bundesliga club. He’s of the belief Sulemana has qualities to impress and become Leipzig’s top signing of the next window.

_“I don’t know if this transfer will actually happen, because I haven’t read anything about it, but if it does, it would be an excellent opportunity for both the player and Leipzig,”_ he said.

_“He has rare qualities: he can take out several opponents thanks to his alertness, speed and power. He would be a top recruit for Leipzig. With skills like that, there’s no doubt he’d quickly establish himself in the team.”_

The 77-year-old, who managed Ghana between 2006 and 2008, isn’t clear whether the English club would be open to letting him leave in the next window.

Sulemana will have two years left on his contract in the summer and Le Roy believes he may push for a transfer if Southampton were to be relegated.

_“The real question is whether the club will agree to let him go easily, as Leipzig seem determined to sign him,”_ Le Roy explained.

_“He himself could force his exit, as Southampton is very likely to be relegated to the Championship, and I don’t see him playing at that level next season.”_

The outlet adds that apart from Leipzig, Genoa, Bayer Leverkusen, Ajax and FC Nantes are all said to be in the picture for the Southampton player.
