Report: Leeds United want £30m duo instead of Kalvin Phillips, one has already given the green light

Leeds United dreams of a Kalvin Phillips reunion seem to be at rock-bottom, less than 24 hours after they were sky high.

Leeds United fans have wished to see Kalvin Phillips back at Elland Road ever since he left for Manchester City in a £45million move in 2022.

A possible returned has been mooted in the last year or so. Then on Tuesday it was claimed that Leeds United had a verbal agreement to re-sign Phillips from Manchester City in the summer, providing they secured promotion to the Premier League.

The news went down well with supporters who need a bit of a pick-me-up after watching a torrid 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth on Sunday, which the ITV cameras broadcast to the rest of the Championship viewership.

But pretty soon after the Phillips news broke, it was played down. It’s now been reported by trusted journalist Ben Jacobs that Leeds United don’t have an agreement for Phillips and that any move for the 29-year-old would prove difficult, given his £150,000-a-week wages at the Etihad.

Leeds United want both Cameron Archer and Manor Solomon this summer

It was said that City would part ways with Phillips for a fee of around £20million. But Jacobs has now revealed that Leeds United have their sights set on two other players, who could cost a combined transfer fee of £30million – Cameron Archer and Manor Solomon.

Archer is open to joining Leeds United following his failed deadline move from Southampton whilst Solomon’s future remains somewhat uncertain, though Leeds United are interested in a permanent deal for the Spurs loan man.

Jacobs writes for GIVEMESPORT: “The priority is to get promotion and then assess what targets are possible. Leeds are more focused on finding a playmaker and trying to buy Manor Solomon, while Cameron Archer remains on their radar.”

How much Spurs want for Leeds United loan star Manor Solomon

Southampton signed Archer on a permanent deal from Aston Villa last summer, paying £15million for the 23-year-old. With the Saints nailed on for relegation, they surely can’t command much more than what they paid for the attacker.

Meanwhile, Southampton are also interested in Solomon who’s valued at £15million by Spurs. In the event of promotion, Leeds would have a lot more money to spend on new players and £30million for both Archer and Solomon could be an easy decision for Farke, especially if the club doesn’t go through with a deal for Phillips.

But expect both Archer and Solomon to have strong interest in the summer with interest already growing in Solomon, amid what’s been a strong overall campaign at Elland Road for the Israeli.
