Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has been side-lined for three months after sustaining a hamstring injury against Manchester City in December 2024.
The 26-year-old was only back into the squad for a month after recovering from a head injury against Tottenham in September which ruled him out for another month, not playing at all in October.
Unfortunately, Mount has suffered consistently with injuries since arriving at Old Trafford from Chelsea in 2023, leading to United’s staff being careful around his recovery.
Now, Ruben Amorim is set for a bit of a boost, as Mount is returning to team training ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League fixture with Real Sociedad.

Mason Mount returns to team training
However, The Athletic has reported that whilst he’s returned to training, he won’t yet be ready to return to the pitch.
His integration into team training is a good sign though that he’ll be ready for selection by Amorim in the coming weeks, giving United a bit more firepower before the end of the season.
This will no doubt be taken well by Amorim who has previously spoken highly of the midfielder, commenting: “Mason Mount. I have to tell you I love that kid.”
Explaining his appreciation for the ex-Chelsea man, Amorim said: “You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad, and this is the most important thing for me.”
He continued: “I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea.”
No doubt despite his return, Amorim will be playing it carefully around his return to try and limit the risk of further injury to the regularly side-lined star.
