While the New York Jets appear to have the question answered at quarterback, new head coach Aaron Glenn and Co. have a big decision to make at the top of the 2025 NFL draft.
After revealing their decision to part ways with future NFL Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, the Jets added free-agent quarterback Justin Fields, who started the first six games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year.
The former No. 11 overall pick went 4-2 as a starter last season, completing a career-high 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards with five touchdowns to one interception. Fields also added 289 rushing yards with five touchdowns on the ground.
With Fields locked into a two-year, $40 million deal, New York can address other areas. One being the lack of efficient pass protection, as the Jets allowed 40 sacks last season (17th in the league).
The group is also undergoing a change with All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith set to depart in free agency.
According to a new mock draft from CBS Sports' Garrett Podell, New York fills the void with "the draft's best offensive line prospect."
"The Jets have an opening at left tackle with Tyron Smith hitting free agency, and they decide to fill it with the draft's best offensive line prospect in LSU's Will Campbell," Podell wrote. "Yes, they did use their first-round pick last year (11th overall) on Penn State left tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu, but now New York has two bookend tackles to support the team's next QB."
Campbell (6-foot-6, 320 pounds) took home the SEC's Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given to the conference's best offensive lineman, as a senior at LSU. The two-time All-SEC First-Team selection and consensus All-American appeared in 37 games as a Tiger.
Despite his size, Campbell recorded the fifth-best 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine (4.98) and the second-best broad jump (9'5") among all offensive line prospects.
The 2025 NFL draft will take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
