PSG recorded a famous win after a one-goal defeat in the opening leg, levelling the tie with an early Ousmane Dembele goal before knocking out the six-time champions on penalties.
Asked about the monumental feat of overcoming the runaway Premier League leaders in search of the club's first Champions League title, PSG boss Luis Enrique admitted that there was not much to separate the teams over the course of an entertaining tie.
"You can say what you want about it, but I think that either of the two teams could have gone through today. We both deserved to go through," Luis Enrique told reporters after the game.
"I think perhaps we did slightly more, certainly over the course of the first game, and I think today we've shown what sort of team we are.
"We already showed that to some extent last season. We have huge strength of character, personality. A team that goes out to play its own football regardless of where we're playing.
"Okay, there were times when Liverpool had the upper hand, perhaps they were slightly better than us, but we never gave up attacking, taking the game to them, creating danger, and I think that certainly we put in a top, top performance, which is exactly what we needed to do."
PSG reached the last eight of the competition for the ninth time in their history with the victory, and will hope for a fifth semi-final appearance when they take on either Aston Villa or Club Brugge.
Luis Enrique labelled it as a "really significant moment' for the 12-time French champions, who are desperate to get their hands on the illustrious trophy at long last.

"It's difficult to analyse the game because I still have all of these feelings buzzing around in my head," he said.
"But I think it's a really significant moment for us, for the players, for the supporters and the three or four thousand supporters who followed us to Liverpool."
Second leg 'belonged' to 'magnificent' Donnarumma

After an exceptional showing from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the opening leg of the last-16 tie, Luis Enrique gave credit to his shot-stopper in the reverse fixture.
Gianluigi Donnarumma replicated the Brazilian's performance with a clean sheet in a 1-0 win, before saving two penalties in the shoot-out to send the Parisians through.
Donnarumma denied Dawrin Nunez and Curtis Jones from the spot as PSG's takers remained perfect from 12 yards to earn a 4-1 shoot-out win.
"Well, I think we can sum things up by saying the first game belonged to Alisson Becker, the second game belonged to Donnarumma," Luis Enrique said.
"It ended up 1-1. After 90 minutes it was still 1-1, after the extra-time it was still 1-1, and I think the penalties reflect the type of team we are.
"You know you bear in mind that our last penalty was taken by Desire Doue, a 19-year-old, and Donnarumma I think was magnificent.
"We have to bear in mind that Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe, particularly when it comes to putting balls into the box, high balls, and yet Donnarumma really coped with their crosses and free-kicks really well.
"I'm pleased for him, pleased for the team, and pleased about everything this evening."
