Otd | Davis' quick start against the Royals

Davis scored against Reading on this day in 2022

Forward opened the scoring after just 17 seconds

Who scored Forest's fastest ever goal?

Today (March 12) marks three years since Keinan Davis opened the scoring for Nottingham Forest against Reading with just 17 seconds on the clock.

From the kick-off at The City Ground, five Reds would touch the ball before Djed Spence picked out Davis in the box, and with a touch on his right boot, a swivel and finish on his left, Forest were ahead.

The Reds would claim the three points on the day adding a further three goals to the scoreline; Davis added his second just after the hour mark before Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates rounded off the scoring.

In terms of Forest’s fastest ever goal, you’d think Davis must be up there with just 17 seconds on the clock, but that accolade goes elsewhere.

Jack Lester scored for the Reds against Norwich City with just 14 seconds played on March 8, 2000.

Second place for Davis? Well he has to share that one.

Britt Assombalonga netted possibly Forest’s fastest goal away from The City Ground in November 2016 when he netted the first of two goals that afternoon against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
