Tottenham News speaking to Paul Robinson

Andoni Iraola is one of many managers who could be next in line for the Tottenham job if they opt to sack Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham’s season hinges on their ability to overcome a 1-0 deficit against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, though the same could be said about the future of Postecoglou.
Exits from both domestic cups, matched with their horrid Premier League position, means any success that can be achieved can only be done so through the Europa League.
However, if Spurs fail to do that on Thursday (12 March), the future of Postecoglou will come under even more scrutiny.

Iraola could become next Tottenham boss under one condition
Regardless of what happens between now and the end of the week, it’s hard to envisage a scenario in which Postecoglou remains at Tottenham for the new campaign.

However, that will leave Spurs with a huge decision to make in the summer in terms of who they get as his replacement, and Paul Robinson believes that Bournemouth would not stand in the way of Iraola’s departure if Tottenham were to pursue a deal.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “Tottenham’s a massive club. It’s going to be a pull for any manager, regardless of what league position they’re in.

Tottenham have had a wretched league campaign
“I think if they don’t win the Europa League this season, we’re talking hypothetically, but if they don’t win the Europa League this season, whoever comes in next year can only have a better season than what’s happened this year. Sat 13th in the Premier League is not where Tottenham want to be.
“We all know Iraola at Bournemouth. But I think he’s part of a project there. It’d be difficult to get him away. But we know Bournemouth in the same way that they do with players. They’ll let managers move on.
“So if Tottenham are willing to stump up the compensation for Iraola, then yes, he’s certainly a manager that you would look at.”

Daniel Levy must pursue Iraola appointment for Tottenham
Taking into account the failures of the current campaign, the next appointment certainly has to be the right one for Spurs.
Iraola, given what he has done with Bournemouth this season, would be a perfect candidate to take over from Postecoglou and right the wrongs that have cast a dark shadow over the club.
Only time will tell if Spurs pursue it, but it is one that Daniel Levy simply needs to consider.
