Gemini AI
Google is working on enhancing Gemini by adding the ability to handle video uploads. This update was discovered through an APK teardown of the Google app's latest beta version by Android Authority. The code references attaching video files, viewing video duration, and playing uploaded videos within the chat interface.
Currently, Gemini can process and summarize web pages, images, PDFs, and YouTube videos when given a link, but it does not support direct video file uploads.
Gemini has already been integrated into various aspects of the Android ecosystem, including replacing Google Assistant on Android phones and being available in car washrooms via Android Auto.
Users can upload a recorded lecture to get a summary, analyze a security video for specific moments, or have Gemini evaluate social media posts. It can also help with troubleshooting technical problems by letting users upload a screen recording for diagnosis. The possibilities are endless.
Google may set limits on video uploads, like the length or size of the files, at least during the first phase of the rollout. We don't know when this will happen, but since Google has been quickly adding new Gemini features, it will likely be available soon.
