**Last week Newcastle United fans were devastated to hear the news that Lewis Hall would miss the rest of the season through injury after a specialist recommended surgery on a foot issue.**
Lewis Hall has been the Newcastle United success story of the season after fans were convinced last season that Eddie Howe had no faith in the former Chelsea man.
Arriving on loan from the Blues with an obligation to buy, Hall's appearances were few and far between last season with fans starting to wonder if he was being deliberately kept away from the field to avoid triggering the obligation to buy.
However, it turned out that the obligation was triggered by league placement, and that Eddie Howe was just biding his time with Hall, making sure the young left-back was taking in all of the coaching advice he was given.

Lewis Hall has been one of Newcastle's best players this season

In the summer, the £28 million obligation was activated and Lewis Hall became a Newcastle player. Not only that, but Eddie Howe was finally satisfied that Hall was ready for first-team action.
He most certainly was, with the 20-year-old becoming a regular starter for the Magpies this season, and rapidly becoming one of the club's best players, even being called up for England along the way.
Which is why it was so hard to take when the news broke last week.
Lewis Hall has spoken out after surgery

Lewis Hall has now issued an update via [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/DHEcJofCDnT/) after a successful surgery.
> "Still absolutely devastated to not be out there with the lads at such a crucial part of the season. Surgery was a success and now time to rest, recover and support the boys. Thank you for all the messages over the past week, can’t wait to be back out there ready for next season 🤞❤️"
The comments on Hall's post were filled with well wishers from the club and beyond with even Fabrizio Romano chiming in with "❤️🙌 back stronger bro!"
We're sure this will only push Hall to come back better next season, it just sucks he won't be involved on Sunday at Wembley.
