Amorim set to receive big boost,£60 Man Utd ace ready to return to training–report

Manchester United have received a huge fitness boost as they enter the business end of the 2024-25 season.

According to The Athletic, Mason Mount is returning to team training at United.

Mount has been on the sidelines for the last three months after suffering a hamstring injury against Manchester City late last year.

He started that game in the left No. 10 role, but his night ended in heartbreak as he limped off the pitch just 14 minutes into the match.

The Red Devils defeated Liverpool and Arsenal to sign Mount from Chelsea in a £60 million deal in the summer of 2023.

Despite having only one year left on his Chelsea contract, United splashed the cash to secure him immediately rather than waiting for a free transfer.

He was entrusted with the iconic No. 7 shirt, left vacant after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Al Nassr, but injuries have plagued his time at Old Trafford.

Mount’s career at Old Trafford has been riddled with injuries.

In his stay of over one and a half years years, he has managed just 32 appearances.

This season has been a nightmare for the 26-year-old, as he has featured for only 403 minutes, casting major doubt over his future.

Although he is unlikely to play against Real Sociedad tomorrow, his return to training is a positive sign for United’s stretched squad.

Manager Ruben Amorim is short of attacking options after the departure of Antony and Marcus Rashford.

Amad Diallo’s long-term injury has left Amorim with only Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho in the final third.

Mount must prove his worth by staying fit until the end of the season and winning over the United faithful.

Another injury setback could force INEOS to cash in on him in the summer transfer window.
