MOT Leeds News speaking to Paul Robinson

Brenden Aaronson has had a troubled campaign with Leeds United, though Daniel Farke has continued to trust him in his starting 11.
Leeds remain on course for promotion back to the Premier League, despite the recent blip that saw the likes of Sheffield United and Burnley gaining some ground.
A 1-0 defeat away to Portsmouth certainly opened the race wide open again, though the Whites still hold the upper hand when it comes to deciding who wins promotion.
Throughout that period, Aaronson has been a mainstay in the Leeds team, though his performances have often left a lot to be desired.

Leeds missed an opportunity in the winter
While Leeds took a gamble when they failed to sign anyone in January, there was one position that could have strengthened two different areas of the pitch.

Joel Piroe has been the starting striker for the Whites, though Paul Robinson believes that is the area that Leeds should have strengthened for one particular reason.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Aaronson, I’ve said for a long time, he’s one player that Leeds could replace. He started the season with an uphill battle with the Leeds United fans the way that he left the club.
“I think he works extremely hard, but he doesn’t work clever, he doesn’t work sensible. He’s a very active player, but at times in the wrong areas.

Aaronson has not been consistent for Leeds
“We know that they didn’t spend in January. If they were going to spend, they should have spent on a number nine, which would allow Piroe to play in that number 10 role. Or even, I think they’ve got quality players, I’ve said it before, I’ve got a record saying it before, the likes of Willy Gnonto, Largie Ramazzani, Manor Solomon and Dan James.
“You take Aaronson out of that number 10 role, you play James there, or you play Gnonto there. He’s got a lot of options, but it’s what the manager’s stuck with, and it’s his tried and tested.
“Regardless of anyone else’s opinion, it looks like Aaronson’s one of his go-tos because he starts every game, and he plays 90 minutes. I don’t think he’s a Premier League player. I think there’s other players in that team that are not Premier League players as well.
“And I think that’s something that they’ll have to look at, should and when they get promoted.”

Farke must rotate Leeds squad to achieve promotion
While Aaronson certainly has a part to play, he is evidently not in the best form, and Farke has plenty of options to subdue the concerns in that area.
Gnonto would be the perfect option, and it has been strange to see the Italian limited to such little game time since the turn of the year.
With 10 games to go, taking risks will often bring the best rewards, which, for Leeds, could be a return to the Premier League.
