Brandin Cooks On Cowboys Future: ‘Door’s Not Shut!’

Dallas Cowboys veteran Brandin Cooks, who is slated to be a free agent for the first time in his career, isn't completely out on a return to The Star in 2025.

With Cooks having a down year last season as injury played a big factor, so too Dak Prescott going down in Week 9, Brandin's 259 yards was his lowest-ever return, along with three touchdowns from 26 receptions.

Cooks did show flashes of having the blistering speed we have come to know, and that did translate onto the field at times, with receiving totals of 34, 48, and 52 yards in three of his last four games.

But the Cowboys have undergone significant change off the field this offseason, and while some think the franchise should move on from The Archer, he's revealed that the door isn't shut on coming back.

"Oh yeah, talk with Will [McClay] the other day, that door's not shut, absolutely not," Cooks said via DLLS Sports. "I got a lot of love for those guys in the locker room, I think Schotty is going to do a heck of a job putting his taste to it, Dak is still one of the top quarterbacks in this league and they know how I feel about them and they know how I feel about the organization and so we'll just kind of see how it goes."

With Cooks making waves earlier in the week stating that he doesn't feel like he was used properly, maybe under new head coach/offensive play-caller Brian Schottenheimer, things will be different.

But as we have come to know, money plays an important role in whether Cooks will come back, and with a market value of just $5.5 million per Spotrac.com, it won't be an expensive exercise to bring Cooks back.

However, the Cowboys do feel like they are going in a different direction under Schottenheimer and with the need for another receiver to help partner Lamb, it feels like WR3 is the most likely option for Cooks in Dallas.

Is that enough? Possibly, as it appears that Brandin isn't sold on leaving The Star just yet.
