The atmosphere at Manchester United has shifted noticeably in recent days, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s candid approach catching many off guard.
His recent interview addressed a wide range of issues.
Ranging from the club’s past mistakes to the financial burden inherited from the Glazers.
One of the most eye-opening revelations was that United still owe payments on transfers for major signings.
Signings such as Antony, Casemiro, and Rasmus Hojlund.
It’s rare for a club owner to publicly name-check current players, especially in a conversation centred around overpayments and questionable deals.

Casemiro’s transfer was already a contentious topic when United spent £60m to sign him from Real Madrid in 2022.
That was after missing out on Frenkie de Jong.
Casemiro’s first season at Old Trafford was a resounding success.
However his sharp decline in form this campaign has reignited concerns over the deal.
Now, Ratcliffe’s revelation that United are still making payments on the Brazilian’s transfer has raised further eyebrows.
The club has been actively working to offload Casemiro, with talks ongoing with Saudi Pro League clubs, who are seen as the most viable buyers.
United are eager to secure a permanent sale rather than a loan.
However shifting his substantial wages has proven to be a major hurdle.
Casemiro reaction at Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s interview
However, Casemiro’s personal response to Ratcliffe’s comments may have complicated the situation further.
Graeme Bailey for United in Focus, revealed that the midfielder was left shocked and offended by the remarks.
Bailey said: “United still working hard with the Pro League to try and get him out, they are in constant contact with them.
“We can also confirm that Casemiro is one of the players that have been left ‘shocked’ by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments and has taken offence.”
Remarks which have now cast fresh doubt over his willingness to depart.

United had hoped he would consider a wage reduction to facilitate a transfer.
However his current stance suggests that is now increasingly unlikely.
While Ratcliffe’s transparency is undoubtedly refreshing, a more diplomatic approach might have been beneficial in this instance.
Casemiro is under contract at Old Trafford and fully within his rights to see out his deal, regardless of the club’s desire to move him on.
As Ratcliffe himself has admitted, fixing United’s financial and recruitment problems will not happen overnight.
The fallout from his comments serves as a reminder that navigating these issues will require careful management on all sides.
