Newcastle United look to be in the market for another striker this summer, with a former Chelsea forward the latest name to be linked.

Callum Wilson’s future on Tyneside is uncertain with the 33-year-old out of contract at the end of the season. The club have an option of a one-year extension, but it feels unlikely that the injury prone forward is retained.

Will Osula is the only other centre-forward behind Alexander Isak currently within Newcastle’s ranks, though the Dane played off the right against Birmingham City in the FA Cup.

The club are ready to invest in the squad this summer after three windows without a major first-team signing, and bolstering our attack will surely be a priority if and when Wilson departs.

Newcastle are showing interest in Tammy Abraham, who made the switch to Serie A for £34m in 2021, according to [CaughtOffside.](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/03/09/exclusive-newcastle-west-ham-contact-striker/)

They report that Newcastle and West Ham have both been in contact with the player’s agent over a potential move, with the former Chelsea forward thought to be ‘open’ to the idea of returning to the Premier League this summer.

The 27-year-old joined Roma under head coach Jose Mourinho, getting off to a good start to life in Italy before an ACL tear on the final day of the 2022/23 season saw him miss almost the entire following campaign.

Abraham has been on loan at AC Milan this season, scoring eight and assisting five in 33 appearances across all competitions, but the move is unlikely to be made permanent with the Rossoneri recently completing the signing of Santiago Gimenez.

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, it is understood that Abraham hopes to impress Thomas Tuchel to earn a place in the England squad and believes the Premier League is the best place for him to do so.

Abraham is an experienced attacking option who can no doubt still deliver in the Premier League, however there are still some reservations around the deal.

Firstly, from a Newcastle perspective, the forward’s recent injury record is quite worrisome particularly considering who he is coming to replace. The ACL that ruled him out for a season aside, Abraham has had recurring injuries to both his shoulder and ankle that prove a point of concern.

From the player’s perspective, Abraham is unlikely to replace Isak in the starting xi and will be forced into a secondary role. For a player looking to push on into the national set-up, somewhere he will be guaranteed more minutes may be a better fit for the forward.
