The midfielder is expected to command a hefty price tag at the age of just 21-years-old.
Tottenham are set to make a splash in the summer transfer window in order to build a squad capable of performing better in the Premier League next season, and potentially winning a trophy.
Their only hope of silverware this season is the Europa League, in which they are 1-0 down in a round-of-16 tie against AZ Alkmaar, with the second leg coming on Thursday night.
Spurs sit 13th in the Premier League, so the Europa League will likely be their only chance of qualifying for Europe next season. They will hope to add more quality to the squad for a better season under Postecoglou.
Tottenham and Man City tipped to battle for Palace star
Adam Wharton at Crystal Palace is generating more and more attention due to his impressive performances at Selhurst Park in the Premier League this season.
The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances for Oliver Glasner’s side in all competitions, becoming a key part of the Eagles’ midfield despite his injury concerns this year. Wharton has been linked to both Tottenham and Manchester City in recent weeks, with reports suggesting that he could be in line for a big-money move in the summer transfer window.
According to former Spurs scout Mick Brown, Tottenham could sign the midfielder in the summer.
He told Football Insider: “I hear Man City and Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on him. I think both of them could look to sign him in the summer if their scouts decide he’s good enough now to make that step up. For me, I had concerns about him when he joined Palace from Blackburn.
“I’ll give him his due, he’s improved since he’s been at Palace and he’s impressed a lot of people. It seems Thomas Tuchel is a fan as well, he’s been watching him at Palace in recent weeks.”
However, because Palace could lose several players in the summer, Brown believes it would take a big offer in order to land Wharton. He added: “As far as Wharton’s move goes, I think it would take a huge fee for Palace to accept it.”
Tottenham could sign fellow Crystal Palace star
Wharton isn’t the only Palace player that has been linked with a move to Tottenham, as they were heavily linked to Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal were also linked to the England international, who would reportedly like a move which keeps him in London after he joined Palace from Queen’s Park Rangers in 2020.
Eze has made 30 appearances for Glasner’s side this season, scoring six goals and providing seven assists. He could provide Tottenham with a long-term replacement for Heung-Min Son, who is set to leave the club in the summer of 2026 after his contract expires.
The attacker can play in midfield, on the wing, and also as a striker if necessary - versatility that Postecoglou would find useful, especially considering Tottenham’s injury problems this season.
