When Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon moved to Elland Road last summer, the duo had big points to prove. Both needed a new challenge to reignite their careers.
It is fair to say the transfers have worked out well for all parties. Rothwell and Solomon have flourished since joining Leeds United on loan, providing them with extra creativity and dynamism in the final third.
A ball-playing midfielder, Rothwell has shown his class in possession and from dead ball situations. Skilful attacker Solomon, meanwhile, has an impressive 14 goal contributions from 29 Championship matches this term. Rothwell and Solomon are due to return to their parent clubs Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur respectively following the climax of the 2024/25 season.
LeedsLive recently conducted a poll asking Whites supporters if the club should look to sign Rothwell and Solomon on a permanent basis if the club win promotion back to the Premier League. Over 1,600 people took part in the survey, with 83 per cent calling on United to permanently sign Rothwell . Seventeen per cent voted no.
Fans also had their say on Solomon. A whopping 87 per cent want United to sign the Israel international on a full time basis. Only 13 per cent are not in favour of a deal for Solomon.
Farke said discussions over their futures might not take place until the summer. “I always like to be in the driver's seat (with transfers) as a club," he said. "But if you have a loan agreement we are not, because there are more or less three parties.
“It’s not just our decision. There is a time to speak about what the future might bring but that’s not during a season and especially not during a crucial time.
“Sometimes you start a few talks behind the scenes a little bit earlier than just after the season but right now I think it is crucial for them both for where we play and also for their mother clubs, crucial for them to make a decision regarding where we will be in the next season before anything is confirmed.
"It also doesn’t make sense to progress any further talks or make a decision. So a decision will be made when it’s confirmed.”
Rothwell and Solomon are likely to be involved when the Whites return to action on Wednesday night at home to Millwall.
