U17 Cup report | Charlton 2 Manchester United 1

Charlton's U17s sealed their spot in the Premier League Cup final with a 2-1 win over Manchester United at Sparrows Lane on Tuesday afternoon.

The young Addicks, led by Senior Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Jason Pearce, will now face Tottenham Hotspur in the showpiece final after Ellis McMillan and Reuben Reid both netted against the Red Devils.

It was a shaky start for Pearce’s side who conceded a penalty in the early stages, but, fortunately for Charlton, the visitors' penalty taker sent his strike over the bar.

Charlton responded to the early warning in fine fashion, netting two goals in quick succession.

In almost mirroring moves, the young Addicks were able to provide themselves with a two-goal cushion ahead of the interval with McMillan netting first with a breakaway goal, closely followed by Reid with the side's second of the afternoon.

The visitors pulled a goal back midway through the second period, but Pearce’s side were able to withhold intense pressure to see out the game professionally and book their place in the Premier League Cup final against Spurs.
