An update from a notable New York Giants insider details the quarterbacks the team is currently targeting and which they prefer most.
It has been a very busy last few days for the New York Giants. General manager Joe Schoen entered the offseason feeling a lot of pressure to improve the roster in a big way after a pair of disappointing seasons. And thus far, the team is receiving positive reviews for the slew of signings they have made this week.
Not only did they re-sign veteran receiver Darius Slayton, but they improved the secondary by luring Paulson Adebo away from the New Orleans Saints, and Jevon Holland from the Miami Dolphins with a couple of big money contracts. However, they have yet to address their biggest need: Quarterback.
The team has been linked to various players in recent weeks. But with many of the best options off the free agent and trade markets, the Giants’ options are limited. On Tuesday, SNY NFL insider Connor Hughes offered an update on who the team is pursuing and the order of priority.

“The Giants very clearly need their passer still. They remain committed to Aaron Rodgers, if they convince him to come to New York over Pittsburgh or Minnesota,” Hughes wrote. “They have Russell Wilson as a fallback. That’s fine. The two are veterans who are better than what the team had a year ago. Neither is the long-term answer, though – another demand of Mara’s was to find that franchise quarterback.”
When it comes to a potential long-term answer at QB, Hughes revealed that “Most expect the Giants to be aggressive” in the NFL Draft to get Miami Hurricanes star Cam Ward. The signal caller is viewed as the best in this year’s class. However, there are also notable red flags in his game.
