Burnley faced West Brom in an ill-tempered affair
Burnley have been trolled by football fans - including their own - for making a blunder on social media.
Scott Parker's side welcomed fellow promotion hopefuls West Brom to Turf Moor on Tuesday in their latest Championship fixture. The Clarets have boasted a stunning defensive record this season, only conceding 10 league goals going into Tuesday's match.
But it was the visitors who took the lead in the 20th minute through John Swift, beating England under-21 goalkeeper James Trafford with a free-kick. Burnley responded three minutes later, though, as Zian Flemming pounced to level the scores.
Parker's men had to settle for a 1-1 draw, missing the chance to go top of the table in an increasingly tight battle. The club's account on X, formerly Twitter, posted a full-time graphic with the correct scoreline yet their caption read: "It ends goalless in Burnley."

Although the post was quickly deleted and a new caption - "It ends level in Burnley" - was published, fans had already cottoned on and didn't miss the chance for some gallows humour in light of Burnley drawing 0-0 on 11 occasions this season.
"We're so used to 0-0 hahahahaaha," one Clarets fan wrote. A second cheekily wrote: "We saw what you did there."
That wasn't the only taking point after full-time, as both Parker and defender CJ Egan-Riley were shown red cards by referee Gavin Ward. Egan-Riley was first to be dismissed after he clashed with on-loan West Brom striker Will Lankshear, who was shown a yellow card, and Parker was subsequently punished for getting involved in the melee that followed.

Although Burnley have scored 50 goals in the Championship this season, it's the lowest tally among the top four. At the other end, their performances have been near faultless. Prior to Burnley's 2-1 win away to Cardiff earlier this month, Trafford had gone a record 12 league games in a row without conceding.
Tuesday's result serves as another blow to Burnley's hopes of pipping at least one of Sheffield United or Leeds to automatic promotion. First-team coach Mike Jackson spoke to the media post-match, confirming that the club will appeal Egan-Riley's red card.
"I think there's a lot of emotion," Jackson acknowledged. "I think both teams are going for it, both teams are at different stages of where they need to be.
"The detail of it is not something that I want to try and get involved in because that much has gone on at the end but from what I've seen, I don't think there's a lot in it. I think sometimes we just need to take a little bit of a step back, everybody involved, but we'll look at it as a club."
