It has been a disappointing season thus far for the Phoenix Suns as they are currently fighting for their playoff lives.
Phoenix currently sits 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 30-35 record, which has them sitting two and a half games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the final Play-In spot.
Of course, the Suns were expected to compete near the top of the West standings this season thanks to their superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, but that has not been the case.
With the Suns struggling, major changes are expected to occur in the offseason, which could see Phoenix move on from Durant.
With Durant possibly on the move in the offseason, Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz recently proposed a blockbuster trade between the Suns and Los Angeles Clippers that would shake up the Western Conference.
In the trade, Swartz has the Clippers acquiring Durant from the Suns in exchange for Kawhi Leonard, Cam Christie and two first-round picks.
"Durant and James Harden had some great moments together with the Brooklyn Nets. Although a few years older, both were still All-Stars this season and continue to play at a high level," Swartz wrote.
The Clippers have had a solid season thus far but Leonard has not been as productive as in years past. Because of this, Swartz has them sending him to Phoenix for Durant to pair Durant and Harden together again like during their short stint in Brooklyn.
This would be a massive trade for both teams, especially the Suns who would not only acquire a two-time champion in Leonard to pair alongside Booker but also replenish their draft stock with two first-round picks.
Of course, Leonard has dealt with a ton of injuries during his time in Los Angeles, so the Suns may not want to swap Durant for him, especially with them wanting a young player to help retool their roster around.
